The Serene Suburb in the Mountains
Lakeside: A Small Suburb Built Around Sandvlei
Lakeside takes its name from its position on Sandvlei, the estuary lake that separates it from Muizenberg. It’s one of the smallest suburbs in the Southern Suburbs by area and population, tucked between the mountains and the water at the foot of Boyes Drive.
Outdoor Adventures
Sandvlei is popular for canoeing, sailing and rafting, and the suburb sits right at the start of the mountain trails leading up towards Muizenberg Peak and the Silvermine Nature Reserve.
Food and Dining
Lakeside itself has very few restaurants, Muizenberg’s cafes and restaurants are the closest option for a proper meal out.
Family Friendly Activities
Lakeside suits families who want quiet, water-adjacent living close to the mountain, with a small, close-knit community feel.
Nightlife and Culture
There’s little in the way of nightlife here, Muizenberg and Kalk Bay are both short drives away for something livelier.
Lakeside by the Numbers
